American Sign Language ASL 2140C Introduction to American Sign Language (4) BC CSD (ASL) as used in the deaf community. General discussion of ASL structure and introduction to various manual communication systems and philosophies. Emphasis on building a basic vocabulary. One hour of laboratory course work is included. Open to all majors. ASL 2150C Intermediate American Sign Language (ASL) (4) BC CSD A continuation of the basic course which expands the student's signing skills and introduces American Sign Language (ASL) idioms. Provides a greater opportunity for skill development in ASL structure and idiomatic usage. One hour of laboratory coursework is included.
