Project Management Logo

USFSP College of Business is now named by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), the world’s largest project management member association, as a Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.®) effective February 1st, 2014. Our courses meet  PMI’s rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification, and instructional design.  We aim to provide quality Project Management education and help project practitioners and project managers to achieve and maintain their PMI professional credentials.

Foundation Courses

The Project Management Foundation courses are provided at both undergraduate and graduate levels, for students in related academic degree programs as well as working professionals in the Project Management Education program. The foundation courses are 3 credit hours (48 contact hours) and offered following the university academic semester schedule. They apply towards the education requirement to sit for the CAPM® and PMP® exams.

The Project Management Foundation courses are designed to provide knowledge, techniques and skills on business project management. They focus on: (1) the fundamental knowledge areas of project management - project integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, and stakeholders; (2) the societal impact of failed and challenged projects; and (3) the trends of modern project management.

Upon completing the Project Management Foundation Courses, students will be able to:

  • Explain the nature, range, scope, and complexity of modern projects
  • Develop systematic perspective of a process-oriented, iterative, and integrative project management
  • Explain the role and responsibilities of a modern project manager
  • Demonstrate ability to plan, execute, control and close projects
  • Apply strategic and iterative risk management and consistent, integrated change control
  • Demonstrate ability to develop, lead and motivate project teams
  • Effectively communicate and work with all project stakeholders
  • Apply project management information systems in the daily project management practice

Project Management Training Program

The Project Management Training Program provides PMI certification exam preparation courses that help working professionals master Project Management knowledge and skills based on the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (the PMBOK® Guide, 5th edition). The courses provide useful testing techniques and sample test questions that help participants pass the tests successfully. They also fulfill the education requirement to sit for the PMI certification exams.

Our PMI certification exam preparation courses are delivered as live, online sessions (like webinars) on Saturdays to better suit working professionals' schedule. The courses consist of instructor-led, interactive lectures, practice and mock tests, and Q&As.  

 

The certification exam preparation courses will cover:

  • The integrative and iterative, process-oriented project management
  • Five (5) project management process groups in the project life cycle
  • Ten (10) knowledge areas of project management
  • Forty-seven (47) processes and their inputs, skills and techniques and outputs
  • Useful testing techniques and tips
  • Assistance in completing the certification test application
