CPA/MBA Program
The MBA Program at USF St. Petersburg allows students to complete the Florida CPA educational requirements for licensure while earning an MBA degree. This unique opportunity provides Accounting students the chance to obtain their "additional 30 hours beyond the bachelor's degree" as required by Florida statute
for CPA licensure while earning their MBA degree from an internationally ranked program.
"This program is popular with Program of Accountancy graduates," said John F. Jewell, Director of the Program of Accountancy at USF St. Petersburg. "The dual nature of the CPA/MBA credential allows graduates to pursue both traditional accountancy careers such as in public accounting, internal auditing, or within a corporate accounting environment while providing for opportunities in upper management outside the typical accounting arenas. In short, the two-pronged credential simply broadens the career potential for the USF St. Petersburg MBA graduate."
Students entering the program will normally complete the USFSP MBA Essentials Modules prior to beginning their for-credit coursework; however waivers are available for recent Business graduates.
Graduation requires 36 credit hours, 18 of which are in required courses. For the remaining 18 credit hours, students have the opportunity to combine courses in accounting, tax, law and forensic accounting. MBA students must take one International elective.
