What is Global Business?
	Global business consists of business activities that are devised and carried out across national borders. These activities take on various forms, which are often interrelated. Primary types of international business are import-export trade and foreign direct investment. Additional aspects of global business are licensing, franchising, and management contracts. Due to differing laws, cultures and consumer wants, firms must be prepared to incorporate global thinking into their business decisions. International business accounts for about one-fifth of Florida's economy and the economic future of Florida and the Tampa Bay area is increasingly dependent on the global economy. It is understandable then, that businesses are looking for individuals who have global business knowledge and skills.
Career Opportunities
The Tampa Bay Region is home to a diverse group of industries that include financial services, banking, agriculture, electronics, communication, healthcare and tourism. Most of these businesses incorporate global business strategies and focus on global issues. The Global Business major gives students a unique perspective by requiring them to take courses in all functional areas of business, so that students will be familiar with the global aspects of running a business.
