Weekend Regatta Report:
Week 1
SAISA Open Regatta
SAISA High School Regatta

SAISA Open Regatta: In competition, Eckerd College hosted the SAISA Open Regatta, the first in the spring South Points series. Twenty teams from across the southeastern US participated, and USF finished 4th overall. In "A" division, AJ Degen sailed with Candice Stewart, placing 3rd, while in "B" division, Colleen Hartman sailed with Darcy Jensen, placing 4th.

SAISA High School Regatta: At home, USFSP hosted the 6th event in the 2012-13 high school series. A record 28 teams competed, with 26 FJ's in "A" division and 26 420's in "B" division inside crowded Bayboro Harbor. Racing was conjested, but spectating was fantastic. Over a dozen USF sailing team members helped run the event, with the USFSP Waterfront staff helping with preparations. With assistance from the St. Petersburg Sailing Center and the Sarasota Youth Sailing program for providing additional boats and sails, the regatta was a huge success.

It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the USFSP environment, the sailing team, and the Waterfront facility.

Looking Ahead: And even busier weekend coming up, with the team hosting the prestigious inter-conference women's regatta, competing at the first team racing event of the season, and traveling to a coed inter-conference regatta in Charleston, SC.
