Weekend Regatta Report:
South Points 4
With visiting teams from Roger Williams University and the Coast Guard Academy practicing at USF for their spring break weeks, most USF sailors were given the week off, with only a few staying to train. The week was for the most part quite windy.
Trux Ulmsted: On Friday, USF team members left for Annapolis to compete in one of the year's most prestigious intersectionals, the Trux regatta hosted by the Naval Academy. Twenty of the best teams in the country participated in mostly light air, tricky, shifting conditions, but very cold temperatures. USF ended up mid-fleet, 10th overall. Will Stocke and Dominique Wright sailed to 12th in A division, freshmen Fernando Monllor and Reba Campbell placed 8th in B division, and Colleen Hartman was 13th in D division. Standout performance was sophomore Chris Stocke winning C division.
South Points 4: Other team members participated in the SAISA SP-4 event hosted by New College of Florida. Abby Featherstone and Devin Hansen were 2nd in A division, and Paul Perry and Candice Stewart won B division. Combining the scores gave USF a 2nd place overall.
Looking Ahead: Next week the teams will travel to the MAISA / SAISA event at Hampton, Virginia, and to the SAISA SP-5 event at Jacksonville University.
Columbia University will be visiting all week for their spring break training.
