Coffee and Conversation is an opportunity for Leaders of area non-profit organizations to come together to share
conversation as well as hear from experts in a variety of fields specifically chosen to benefit NON-PROFIT Leaders
and their organizations.

April 5, 2012: "Hillsborough Today" with County Commissioner Les Miller (USF Tampa campus)
Commissioner Les Miller was elected to represent District 3 in 2010. Miller previously served as a member of the Florida Senate from 2000-2006 and a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1992-2000. During his time in the Florida Legislature, he served as the Minority Leader for both the House and the Senate. He also was appointed to the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission from 2007-2008 and as a member of the Florida Board of Regents from 1977-1979.

January 19, 2012: State of the
Juvenile Welfare Board
(JWB) with Delquanda Turner (USF St. Pete campus)
Delquanda S. Turner, Senior Planner of South County is responsible for strategic planning, community engagement, grant initiatives, collaboration and networking, capacity building, and technical assistance, especially in the southern Pinellas County where she is the staff liaison to the South County Community Council. Ms. Turner has expertise in various divisions of the major systems of care and brings knowledge to out-of-school-time program development, faith based relations, and contract compliance. She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration with certifications in human resources, leadership, and youth development. She has served nearly two years with JWB been with JWB since 2007 and spent five years prior to that supervising JWB-funded programs.

November 3, 2011: Twitter: New Media and Why We Need It In Our Non-Profit Market Today with Ben Kirby (USF St. Pete campus)
Ben Kirby is the Communications Manager for the Juvenile Welfare Board, a special taxing authority in Pinellas County, Florida which provides critical services to at-risk youth and underprivileged families. He has served in the non-profit sector, working for the American Association of Kidney Patients, a healthcare education organization serving kidney patients and their families. He was also the Communications Director for the Parkinson’s Action Network (PAN), an education and advocacy group dedicated to finding better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

September 1, 2011: Board Relations and Recruitment with Katee Tully (USF St. Pete campus)
Katee Tully joined the Morean Arts Center in April 2008 as the Capital Campaign Director, and subsequently accepted the Executive Director’s position in March of 2009. Prior to her appointment, Katee spent twenty years in higher education leadership positions in North Carolina and New York. During her tenure, she raised significant funding and established a strong reputation for building collaborations and partnerships. Katee became known for her expertise in leadership development and business outreach during her ten years with East Carolina University. In that capacity, she implemented a nationally recognized leadership program for middle grade and high school students, which was featured on PBS.
April 14, 2011: Human Resource Strategies for Success with Jennifer Carter (USF Tampa campus)
Jennifer Carter is the Director of the Student Affairs Shared Services Center Human Resources.

March 31, 2011: Fundraising with Joel Momberg (USF St. Pete campus)
Joel D. Momberg has served as the University of South Florida´s Vice President for Advancement and CEO of USF Foundation since February of 2009. In this dual capacity, Momberg is ultimately responsible for the USF Foundation´s coordinated fundraising activities on behalf of the university as well as the operations of the USF Alumni Association.

February 10, 2011: Earned Media and Press Relations with Michael Hoad (USF Tampa campus)
Michael Hoad is the Associate Vice President of Communications and USF Health and Vice President of Communications for the University of South Florida. Mr. Hoad oversees all communications, marketing and media relations. Under his leadership, the communications team is the point of contact for local, regional and national media- proactively pitching stories to news organizations and responding to daily requests from print, broadcast and web based media. Mr. Hoad oversees message-based, integrated communications in support of the missions of USF Health and USF. Since joining the university in 1988, Mr. Hoad has directed media relations, public affairs and advancement for what was known as the Health Sciences Center and played a pivotal role in the rebranding USF Health in 2005.

January 20, 2011: It's a Wonderful Grant with Debra Prewitt (USF St. Pete campus)
Debra Prewitt is the director of
Public Policy and Resource Development at JWB Children’s Service Council. In her current year of directing the grant process, JWB secured $1 million in grants. Her areas of expertise include state and federal legislative policy and budgets. Prior to joining JWB, Ms. Prewitt was the Interim Executive Director of the Deaf Service Center of Pasco County and a council member and the first woman mayor of New Port Richey. Ms. Prewitt earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Eckerd College and her master degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida.

Service-Learning: Engaging Students Through Community-Based Learning
(USF Tampa campus)
Robin Ersing, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor in the USF School of Social Work and Chair of the Doctorate of Social Work degree program.
Dr. Ersing researches in the areas of community disaster resilience, women and disasters, community empowerment, and university-community partnerships. Currently she is collaborating with colleagues in geography and anthropology to study the influence of social network diversity on evacuation decision-making during a hurricane warning. The research is supported by a grant from the Natural Hazards Center. An application has been submitted to the National Science Foundation to expand the study.

November 18, 2010: Recruiting, Retaining and Rewarding Volunteers by Lori Osborne (USF St. Pete campus)
Lori has more than seven years experience in volunteer recruitment and management. Lori has worked with various local non-profits including The Children's Home and Eckerd Youth Alternative as well as served in several local advisory boards, community organizations and leadership classes.

Reuben is a graphic designer and web innovator, as well as a student at USF St. Petersburg. He is active in student life activities as well as in Student Government.

USFSP was awarded a Learn and Serve America grant of $395,000, one of only 36 grants awarded nationally, to engage students in service-learning projects and promote community service while enhancing student academic and civic skills. The grant supports the student philanthropy boards and the Lead Learn Serve program at USFSP.
